Try to be positive and stay calm through all of this.
You may find it useful to use an active coping calendar
as this will help you to concentrate on happy and calming thoughts
and will help us to:
"Keep Calm, Stay Wise & Be Kind".
Remember, it's not forever.
Love Mrs Williams
The Class 4 teacher is Mrs Williams and the teaching assistant is Miss White. We're also lucky to have specialist provision in certain subjects: Mr Nicholas teaches cornets to Y4.
Class 4 consists of 24 children from Lower Key Stage 2: a mix of Year 3 and Year 4 children. It is an exciting stage where children learn to become more independent and begin to learn a musical instrument.
Times: Class 4's day starts at 8.50am and finishes at 3.15pm.
Class Fund of £1 is due each Monday. This helps with the cost of daily snack, as well as class treats, activities and trips. Alternatively, this can be paid on a half-termly basis, which makes collection a much easier task.
Homework is set for each Friday but we will endeavour to get it out on Thursday if time permits. This is to be returned on Monday or Tuesday please. If you have any questions about the homework, please don't hesitate to ask. In addition, the children are asked to practise their spellings and times tables for a weekly test.
Spellings are sent out each Monday to be tested the following Monday. It is vital that your child practises their spellings each week as the words given are expected to be used in context in their written work.
Tables are very important in Key Stage 2 (Year 4 children will be sitting a timestables test in June) so children will be having weekly tables tests. Please encourage children to learn and practise their quick recall of facts. The children at KCE will be using Times Table Rockstars- a fun, online computer program where they can take part in multiplication battles with friends and staff to reach "Rock Hero" status. Every child has been give login and password details for https://ttrockstars.com .
Reading books and diaries are sent home and should be filled in to show children's progress. Each child is responsible for bringing in their reading book and giving them to Miss White so she can change them when needed. Children should be reading and enjoying books on a daily basis.
PE days are Tuesday (indoor) and Thursday (outdoor). Please ensure that each item in your child's kit is labelled. If the weather is cold, tracksuit bottoms and a jacket would be perfect. Kits can be left in school and taken home for washing at the end of each half term.
Water bottles should be labelled and have only plain water in. No juice or fizzy drinks please.
If you need to speak urgently to Mrs Williams or Miss White, a brief message can be given in the morning or at the end of the school day, If you need more time, please let the office know and they will be able to make an appointment for you at a suitable time.
Mrs Williams is very much looking forward to working with the children in Class 4 and sharing in their development and success.
