Class 5 2021 - 2022

Miss Cleary

Welcome  to Class 5!

Home to Miss Cleary (Teacher), Miss Campbell and Miss McCrossan (Teaching Assistants) and 27, bright, beautiful and bubbly children.

We have a very exciting year ahead, learning an abundance of new skills, developing independence, and an ability to play a musical instrument, acquiring a new language and excitingly learning how to swim. What a year ahead!

Here is some key information to make this year a little bit easier.

  • Our Classroom door opens between 8.40am and 8.50am.
  • Home time is between 3.10pm and 3.20pm. Children will be called to the door in the order that parents are queuing, so thank you for your patience.

Homework help during play.

Homework return day.

Wednesday P.E day (Please come into school in your P.E kit, children must not wear jewellery for health and safety reasons).

Spellings test (Spellings will be given out of a Thursday and will be expected to be learnt for the following Thursday).

Friday P.E day (Please come into school in your P.E kit, children must not wear jewellery for health and safety reasons).

Homework is set and is expected to be returned on Tuesdays.

If you have any questions about the homework, please don't hesitate to ask. In addition, the children are asked to practise their spellings and times tables for a weekly test.

  • Please ensure all clothing (e.g Jumpers and coats) are all clearly labelled with your child’s name.
  • All children must bring a water bottle (again with a clearly labelled name tag) containing water (not flavoured or juice).
  • No additional items from home should be brought into school – Pencil cases must fit into the children’s drawers.
  • If your child is unable to come in due to Covid-19 then please check our class tabs above which will direct you to work for the children to complete during this time.

Supporting your children at home:

  • The children at KCE will be using Times Table Rockstars- a fun, online computer program where they can take part in multiplication battles with friends and staff to reach "Rock Hero" status. Every child has been give login and password details for https://ttrockstars.combut please email Miss Cleary if these have been mislaid.
  • Readingbooks and diaries are sent home and should be filled in to show children's progress. Each child is responsible for bringing in their reading book and placing them in the correct area to be read and changed (if needed). Children should be reading and enjoying books on a daily basis.

If you have a pressing matter and would need to speak to a Class 5 staff member, please give a brief message at the door or email and we will be sure to contact you to make an appointment at a more appropriate time (this appointment will most likely be a telephone consultation due to current circumstances).

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to say how excited we all are in Class 5 to be a part of your children’s special learning journey.
