Monday 12th May is Florence Nightingale’s birthday and marks 200 years since she was born. Class 3 found out lots about Florence Nightingale during our ‘Nurturing Nurses’ topic earlier this year. What can you remember about Florence? Try some of the activities below this week:

  • Watch the short animation below.  Draw a picture of Florence and try to retell her story in your own words.

  • Can you think of any important places that have recently been named after Florence Nightingale? Why do you think they were given that name?
  • Read the comprehension about Florence and use the information to answer questions about her.
  • Dress up as Florence Nightingale or create your own hospital or battle scenes.
  • All about the number 200. Count it, paint it, colour it in. Try threading 200 beads, exercise for 200 seconds, Read a book with 200 pages!!! What else can you do with the number 200?
