Home Learning Week Beginning 11.5.20

Hi Class 9,

I hope you are all well. Below are your tasks for this week.

Please remember, do not feel obliged to complete all work set. You have lots to work with and I know being the dedicated children that you are, you are doing your best. These are just additional pieces of work that can be completed at your own leisure. Any questions or problems please do not hesitate to contact me.

Maths Task

This weeks activity is to log back onto TimesTables Rockstars. We have been challenged by Millbrook Primary School to a ‘Rockslam.’ Here is the leaderboard currently:

We can do this Class 9 – log on, attempt some times tables, score some points and move us up the leaderboard. The challenge has been set by Millbrook Class 11 who are currently top. Can we de-throne them?

If you have misplaced your login details or are struggling to log on, don’t hesitate to email me at [email protected] and I will assist you.

English Task

One of the KS2 Reading targets is to ‘be able to predict what may happen from details stated and implied. So, this can be as simple as asking the question, ‘What do you think is going to happen next? Followed by ‘Why?’

Load the file titled ‘English Task Week Beginning 11.5.20’ and predict what you think will happen next after looking at the picture. There are some questions for you to consider underneath the picture, to help guide you.

Topic Task

On Tuesday 12th May, it is 'International Nurses Day'. It is celebrated around the world to mark the contributions nurses make to society. It was chosen to celebrate on this day because it is the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale. It is particularly special this year because it will be the 200th Anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birthday.

I have attached a PowerPoint about Florence Nightingale and this week would like you to research her and write down some facts about her.

Did you know: Since Florence carried a lantern with her on her night visits, the soldiers would call her ‘The Lady with the Lamp?’

If you need any help at all, please email me on [email protected] and I will be happy to help.

Stay safe and keep in touch
