Home Learning Week Beginning 15.6.20

Hi Class 9,

I hope you are all well. Below are your tasks for this week.

Please remember, do not feel obliged to complete all work set. You have lots to work with and I know being the dedicated children that you are, you are doing your best. These are just additional pieces of work that can be completed at your own leisure. Any questions or problems please do not hesitate to contact me.

Maths Task

This week, we are looking at converting measurements specifically focusing on weight, capacity and length.

We have had a go at this together in class and it is always a difficult concept to grasp.

I have attached posters which may help you with how to convert each measurement. Have a go at the sheets that I have attached, if you have any questions please email.

English Task

Your English task is to read the short extract from ‘Running on Empty’ by S.E Durrant and think about what is happening and the characters that you are introduced to.

The next stage is to illustrate what you think you can see. We have done this before in class and this is a fantastic way to bring your ideas to life.

Hint: You may need to read the extract more than once to ensure that you have picked up on all of the description of the setting and the characters.

 Topic Task

This week it is Refugee week. Do you know what a refugee is? Do you know any famous refugees?

I would like you to create a poster that will explain to people what life is like as a refugee. I have attached a PowerPoint and video for you to use if you wish to.

If you have completed this activity and would like an extra challenge then why don’t you see how many different ways there are to say ‘hello’ in countries all over the world!

If you need any help at all, please email me on [email protected] and I will be happy to help.

Stay safe and keep in touch
