On Thursday 21st May it is Outdoor Classroom Day. This means, if we were in school, thousands of teachers all over the world would take their lessons outside. We would get some fresh air, incorporate nature into our lessons and also have lots of outdoor play!!

This week I have thought about how you could take your learning outside too. Here are some ideas for you to try:

  • Maths Outdoor Challenge Cards - Take your maths outside! How many of the challenge cards can you complete? Can you think of your own maths challenge for a member of your family?
  • Maths - Can you make numbers using nature? Have a look at the nature themed number cards and see if you can give it a go, using things that you have found outdoors.
  • Maths Minibeast Hunt - Search around your garden or the local area for minibeasts (bugs). Record what you find in a tally chart using the table provided. Which minibeast do you think you will find the most of?
  • English - Minibeasts Reading Comprehension. Read all about minibeasts and see if you can answer the questions. Don't forget capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.
  • English - Keep a diary of all your outdoor adventures. You could write a new entry in your diary each day.
  • English - Minibeasts wordsearch
  • Science - Minibeasts and their habitats. A habitat is the natural home or environment where an animal lives. Can you remember which environment you found each of these minibeasts? Have a look at the activity and see if you can match each minibeast to their correct habitat.
  • Science Experiment - Can you make a daisy change colour? Have a look at the document attached and give it a go.
  • Science Experiment - Can you grow a rainbow? Have a look at the document attached and see if you can grow your very own rainbow. Don't forget to send me some pictures if you manage it!
  • Outdoor Home Learning Bingo - Will you get a line, or a full house? Have a look at the bingo card and see how many of the activities you can complete. I wonder if anyone will be able to complete them all in a week.

This week, try and spend as much time as you can outdoors! There are many things to see and do. Have a picnic, play some sports but most of all HAVE FUN!! Remember to take lots of pictures and email them to me so I can add them to our 'Class 2 Catch Up & Display Wall' page.
