English

You have a number of different activities to complete for English this week. They are as follows:

Catch It – Dialogue between different characters - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c88QE6yGhfM

Watch the short video ‘Catch It’ and think about what the meerkats would be saying to each other at different stages of the clip. Once you have thought of some ideas write them down as a short piece of dialogue. An example of what it could look like can be found below:

Meerkat 1: Quick, quick get up, there is something you must see.

Meerkat 2: I’ll get up in a minute, it will still be there then.

Meerkat 1: No, you must see this, trust me!

Meerkat 2: Wow! You’re right. We must protect it!

Reading comprehension – The Wartime Diary of Eliza Beale (A Second World War Evacuee)

Read the short diary entries all based around Eliza’s experiences of being an evacuee and answer the questions accordingly. Remember to write in full sentences and think about how much information to write e.g. a few lines means a few sentences and one line means a short answer.

Spellings – Hard and Soft ‘C’ sound

Look over the spellings provided and take time to learn them this week. There is also a short spelling activity sheet to complete based on the spellings given. You could even ask a parent or sibling to test you on the spellings at the end of the week. Feel free to email me your scores!

PE

It was great to see so many of you on the previous PE session zoom. It is important that during lockdown we all stay as active as possible as it also helps to improve our general mood. The details for the next PE zoom meeting have been emailed out to you. It would be great to see even more of you on this one.

History - World War II

Last week, we started our new History topic which is all about World War II. Our next lesson looks at evacuation and how it impacted so many people during the War, mostly children! Use the PowerPoint provided to read all about evacuation and what it entailed. There is also some fantastic information given on the following video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SYDBJAwYCI&t=497s

Suitcase Activity

Using the template provided or your own, I would like you to think about what items you would take with you if you were to be evacuated NOW! Remember, Ipad’s, Playstations etc are great but think outside of the box. The scary thing about evacuation is that nobody knew when they would be returning so think wisely.

Evacuee Letter

Thinking about what it would be like to be an evacuee, write a short letter home to your parents you left behind telling them about your experiences so far. You could use the letters that are written by Eliza Beale (English comprehension task) to give you some ideas.

Remember to state your feelings clearly as well as document your experiences so far.

Top tip: Remember those CAPITAL LETTERS and correct spellings and grammar.

RE

Look at the RE picture by opening it from the files below. Answer the attached questions about it. Try to be as thorough as you can and really think about your answers. Send me your completed copy of the picture when you have finished. In Friday's Zoom you can show your pictures if you want to, as we'll be discussing what you spotted.
