Kirkby C of E Lottery

Date: 21st Sep 2021 @ 9:27am

Dear Parents / Carers,

As you are aware, due to Covid-19 restrictions last year we were unable to undertake any of our usual fun, fundraising activities. Due to this we launched, The Kirkby C of E Lottery !!

By working with Your School Lotteries, we began operating a weekly school lottery, which saw the first draw taking place on December 5th, 2020.

Since then, there have been 40 draws, each producing wins of between £25 and £35, depending upon how many people are participating.

The School Lottery has raised over £1,400 for your child’s school, this money is being used to provide materials for every child in every class.

By playing the lottery, you are supporting your school - it’s that simple!

Tickets for the lottery cost just £1 per week, with a top prize of £25,000!

Each ticket consists of 6 numbers and each number will be between 0 and 9. There is a draw every Saturday night when a 6 digit winning combination is picked. Match all 6 and you win the JACKPOT!

There is also a guaranteed winner for each school every Saturday which is drawn on a raffle basis, so there are two chances to win a prize.

So please, continue to support our school, it’s so simple, just go online, go to Your School Lottery, click on Buy a Ticket, type in Kirkby C of E School, click on Support Us and then either choose your numbers or have them randomly chosen for you ! It really is that easy and it makes such a difference to our school!!

So, let’s keep our fingers crossed and you never know, IT COULD BE YOU!!!!

Good Luck!!

Ms Elaine Parr                                               Mrs Nicola Vella

Thank You Morrisons!!

Date: 7th Sep 2021 @ 3:16pm

THANK YOU MORRISONS!!

We would like to say a massive ‘THANK YOU’ to Eddie the Manager and 14 volunteers from the new, ‘soon to open’ Kirkby Morrisons.

The volunteers have worked fantastically in roasting hot conditions tidying up, creating a vegetable patch and raised beds and restoring the school’s woodland area. This tranquil haven can now be used to support learning throughout the school curriculum and as a fantastic place just to relax and take care of the children’s well-being.

Thanks again!!

Date: 22nd Jul 2021 @ 12:28pm

          22nd July 2021.

Dear Parents,

As we approach the Summer holidays, we are very aware that for some children and families, finding something fun to do and somewhere safe for children, can prove difficult.

We are therefore offering the opportunity for children to attend ‘Fun Club’.

This will run for two weeks and will have lots of cookery, arts & crafts and other fun activities.

It will be run by Miss Parr (from class 8) and Mrs Vella (from Reception).

The clubs will run from 9am to 3pm. The cost will be £10 per child per day. Each child must bring a packed lunch and drinks for the day.

The clubs will run from Monday August 2nd until Friday 13th August.

There are a few places still available, however as they are limited please be quick to avoid disappointment.

To secure a place for your child/ children, please either email,

elaine.parr@kirkbyce.co.uk or nicola.vella@kirkbyce.co.uk,

 or phone; 07849 472767.

Many thanks,

 Elaine Parr and Nicola Vella.

A new PE kit is on its way!

Date: 7th Jul 2021 @ 1:03pm

From September 2021 on PE days the children in years 1-6 (classes 1-9) will no longer need to come into school wearing their uniform and change into their PE kits. This will give us all more valuable time actually involved in the physical activities themselves rather than the time spent on getting changed.

As such we liaised with our school wear providers Kids Kirkby and LiverPrint (who will be selling the new PE attire) and the children themselves to see what they wanted to wear.

Looking at the photographs below - I am sure that you will agree how smart the children will look on their PE days all wearing the new PE wear.

White Kirkby CE t-shirts are to be worn underneath and during warm weather and indoor sessions children can quickly change into shorts.

The cost of the silky hoodie and the tracksuit bottoms will be approx £25 a set which is excellent value..

Whilst the new tracksuit is not compulsory if the children do not wear it on PE days, they must bring their PE kit with them or wear plain black tracksuit bottoms, their PE t-shirt and their school jumper, other coloured tracksuits are not permitted.

The Len Johnrose Ice Foot 92 Challenge.

Date: 22nd Apr 2021 @ 10:55am

The Ice Foot 92 Challenge

How much do you want to see your teachers squirm?

Well – here is your chance!!

On Friday April 30th, your teachers have agreed to take part in:

The Len Johnrose Ice Foot 92 Challenge.

Since being diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in 2017, the former Burnley, Blackburn, Bury and Preston footballer Len Johnrose has been working tirelessly to raise awareness of the illness for which sadly, there is no cure.

Staff will either sit or stand with their feet in icy cold water for 92 seconds. The number 92 represents every professional football team in England. The challenge is part of the former midfielder’s Project 92 campaign, where he plans to visit every club to talk about MND.

Around 5000 adults in the UK have the condition which affects the brain and nervous system – for which there is no cure.

If as a class you manage to raise £30 then your class teacher will have to undertake the challenge – BUT THAT IS NOT ALL – if all the classes raise £30 then Miss Hindmarsh has agreed to put her feet into a bucket of ice for 92 seconds as well!!

Please send donations into your child’s class before Friday 30th April.

All money raised will be to help to find a cure for this terrible disease.

A special thanks to McDonalds for agreeing to supply the ice!!

Bird's Eye View Photographs - Eddie Pratt

Date: 22nd Nov 2020 @ 2:36pm

Sometimes taking a different view of things helps us to realise how fantastic things are.

Well, that is certainly the case with the brilliant photographs of St. Chads Church and Kirkby CE Primary School.

Children In Need 2020

Date: 10th Nov 2020 @ 3:47pm

Children In Need 2020: What to expect this year - CBBC Newsround

Kirkby CE support ‘Children in Need’ - Friday 13th November

This year, as part of the Children in Need fundraising appeal, Joe Wicks will attempt to work out for an incredible 24 hours for Radio 2’s BBC Children in Need Challenge 2020!

His challenge will start on Thursday 12th at 9.25am and finish a day later.

To support this challenge on Friday 13th Nov we would like all our children (and staff) to come to school in fun sportswear – the crazier the better – for a small donation handed to the class teacher. Each class will be joining Joe Wicks for the final 20 minutes of his work out on Friday morning and participating in this live event alongside schools all across the UK.

To support children’s mental health and well-being we will also be participating in Children in Need’s Five to Thrive programme – which is a unique programme of well-being activities for the whole appeal week (9-13 Nov) led by Joe Wicks, Dr Radha and Blue Peter. Inspired by the five ways to well-being, each day we will be taking part in classroom activities to make children feel better about themselves – as well as helping others.

How very true!

With libraries closed and the second lockdown almost upon us, we thought that we would share with you a fantastic free resouce -

The National Trust’s Virtual School Library.

https://wordsforlife.org.uk/virtual-school-library/

This will give all of our children regardless of their age an opportunity to read and engage with great texts in the comfort of their own homes.

Fun activities, free books to read, downloads, hearing from award winning authors – what more will the children need in order to nurture a love of reading and support their well-being in these difficult times?

So, what are you waiting for – Go and Explore!!

A - Z Alphabet Challenge!

Date: 22nd Jun 2020 @ 10:18am

Do you all know your Alphabet?

If you do then you can help us to create our very own ‘Kirkby Alphabet’ for our next lock down challenge.

Simply take a photograph of letters that you can see in and around Kirkby on your travels.

You don’t have to take a snap of all 26 letters – just send in the ones you have spotted.

Be as imaginative as you want – and hopefully we can complete our very own A-Z as a school.

The example below might help to get your brains ticking.

Please send your photos to either myself or your class teacher.

Knowsley School Sport Partnership Challenges Week 9

Date: 16th Jun 2020 @ 2:15pm

Good Afternoon Everybody,

Are you ready for Knowsley School Sport Partnership’s latest challenge?

Did anybody complete the ‘Pyramid’ challenge?

This week’s challenge is the ‘Animal Obstacle Course’ and involves you navigating yourself around a short obstacle course (set up by yourself) using different movements. Try to imagine how different animals would move around the course.

I had lots of fun completing mine. Can anyone think of 10 different ways to navigate the course?

You can send any results or videos to me via email at dale.mawson@kirkbyce.co.uk

Enjoy all,

Mr Mawson

Competition Time - Who's who?

Date: 2nd Jun 2020 @ 1:01pm

Who’s who?

Put your detective skills to the test and work out which staff member is reading which book!

Lots of our school staff have posed for the camera reading a book that they have chosen especially for the occasion.

Can you work out who is who?

Look carefully – are there any clues that can help you?

Be careful – there is a special guest ‘lurking’ among us!

If you are a little stuck ask your parents for help.

Send your answers to your class teachers via email and see if you can get them all correct.

This week’s challenge is the ‘Pyramid Challenge’ and involves push ups, squats and star jumps.

Can you progress down the pyramid and then back up successfully?

If you are completing the challenge outside please remember to be ‘sun safe’ as it is scheduled to be very hot and sunny this week J

Knowsley School Sport Partnership Challenges Week 7

Date: 26th May 2020 @ 11:37am

Good Morning Everybody,

So as it’s the start of Half Term, why not attempt our latest Knowsley School Sport Partnership Challenge?

Did anybody complete the Yoga Challenge set by Mrs Melville?

This week’s challenge involves using a deck of playing cards. However, if you do not own a set (like me) you can use the following site

http://random-cards.com/

Draw a card from a deck of cards, each suit has an activity and you must do that activity for the number of reps on the card!

Hearts = Push Ups

Clubs = Sit Ups

Diamonds = Squats

Spades = Burpees

All picture cards (Jack, Queen and King) are 11 reps

Aces are 12 reps

E.g.

2 of Clubs = 2 Sit Ups

Queen of Hearts = 11 Push Ups

Ace of Spades = 12 Burpees

Try and get through as many cards as possible – I completed 10 in the short video below.

You can send any results or videos to me via email at dale.mawson@kirkbyce.co.uk

Enjoy all,

Mr Mawson yes

A massive well done to all the children who entered this competition – prizes will be on their way to you all very soon.

There were some very imaginative towers built out of all sorts of things and a great number of them were exactly the required height of 30cm.

A winner had to be chosen though and after careful deliberation between staff we selected one.

A round of applause please for ………….  Alysha Welch.

Knowsley School Sport Partnership Challenges Week 4

Date: 3rd May 2020 @ 4:37pm

Happy Sunday Everyone,

Hopefully you are all safe and well at home. Did anybody attempt last week’s Pentathlon Challenge?

This week is an indoor activity – ‘Sock-ia.’

Has anybody ever heard or played Boccia? If not, Boccia is a Paralympic sport which tests both muscle control and accuracy. From a seated position, players propel balls to land as close as possible to a white marker ball, known as the Jack.

However, for our game children, we are using socks and the marker can be anything you like.

This is really great fun!

Watch me take on Mrs Mawson below – there was only ever going to be one winner wink

You can send any results or videos to me via email at dale.mawson@kirkbyce.co.uk

Enjoy and happy socking smiley

Enjoy,
