Welcome To School
School re-opening plans
I hope you all continue to be well and are staying safe. As we enter what would have been the Whit holiday I thought a bit of clarity about our forth coming plans would be useful. School will not re-open for children on June 1st; we are aiming for the 15th June but this will be a phased return for Year 6 children initially and we will continue to provide childcare for keyworker children. It is paramount to us that the new safety measures are fully in place and that we have staffing levels that are appropriate. As we move towards that date we will advise you of what that model will look like, but needless to say it will look very different from the one the children left on March 20th.
The government produced numerous documents detailing the actions schools would have to take prior to increased numbers of children returning. Some of these measures include:
reduced class sizes to adhere to social distancing. We have now checked classroom sizes and can only fit small groups at any one time, for example, between 5 and 10 children maximum
children to remain in the same group at all times with no mixing
children to have the same teacher all the time
increased hand washing facilities
separate entry and exit points
no parents / carers allowed on site
one way systems to be established in schools
reduced timetable / flexible days / staggered start & finish times
home schooling resources to continue to be available
desks to be positioned 2m apart if possible
soft furnishings / toys to be removed from Nursery / Reception / other classrooms
toys and equipment not to be shared small equipment which cannot be easily cleaned must not be used
staggered break times with no mixing of groups
provision of a sandwich lunch – again a staggered lunchtime with no mixing of groups
additional cleaning throughout the day and week
The Government have also expressed the need for all Year groups to return by the beginning of the summer holiday. This obviously provides us with a problem of how to fit 300 children in to a school with 11 classrooms with a cap of 10 per class. We possibly may look at staggering weeks when children access provision, but again be assured this will be communicated to you in advance and with all appropriate risk assessments in place. The main priority continues to be a safe a return to school as possible for children and staff alike.
For children who are not accessing a place in school we will continue to provide weekly activities and work on the class page of the website, by direct email from your class teacher
If you are struggling to access work on the website or do not have access to a printer please email your class teachers or myself on firstname.lastname@example.org or text our "Out of Hours" phone number: 07395763866 and we can arrange for a work pack to be distributed to your home address.
Stay well and stay safe.
