20th July 2021

Dear Parents,

Well as we end what has certainly been an unforgettable 16 months, I would personally like to thank you all for your support and resilience during some very difficult times.  The children have been a credit to you and although they have undoubtedly been affected by the many days of school missed, they are working hard to “catch up”.  This process will obviously continue well into next year and beyond.  I would also like to thank the dedicated team that we have here at Kirkby CE, who have gone above and beyond the job description and have been tireless in their efforts.

The children return to school on Monday 6th September.  Who knows what the Covid picture will look like then, so therefore to be on the safe side some of the current procedures will remain in place until we have a clearer picture.  Start and finish times will continue to be staggered, with the children coming straight in from the playground.  Children should arrive between 8.40-8.50am and be collected between 3.10-3.20pm. (Nursery and Reception times will differ slightly). The one-way system will continue to be in use, to ease congestion.  Class bubbles will not be in place and children will be allowed to mix freely at break and lunchtimes.

School uniforms (Years 1 -6) should revert to our previously high standards (although ties will remain as an optional item in Keystage 2).

(All items of uniform are available from either Kids Kirkby or from LiverPrint). Can I also take his opportunity to remind you that earrings are not part of our uniform policy due to safety reasons and need to be taken out before the children arrive for a new term.

As we end the school year, our best wishes must go to Mrs Lynn Crighton, who will retiring from her position of Nursery Nurse after an amazing 27 years’ service.  She has been a wonderful member of staff who has had such a positive impact on many children’s lives.  The same can be said of Miss Emma Parr, who will be leaving us to take up a teaching position in Dubai.  Miss Parr is an excellent young teacher, and we wish her well on the next exciting chapter of her career. Finally, we wish Year 6 all the very best for their move to Year 7.  A smashing cohort of young people who we know will continue to flourish and be successful.

Wishing you all a very happy summer.  Stay safe and well.  See you in September.

Kind regards,

Mair Hindmarsh (Headteacher)
