Child Protection Statement of Commitment
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is defined as:
- Early help and support — providing timely help to meet children’s needs as soon as concerns emerge, preventing issues from escalating and ensuring coordinated support across agencies.
- Protection from harm — protecting children from maltreatment, abuse, neglect and exploitation, whether occurring within the home, in the community, at school or online.
- Preventing impairment — preventing the impairment of children’s physical health, mental health, emotional wellbeing and overall development, recognising the impact of trauma and adversity.
- Safe and effective care — ensuring children grow up in circumstances that provide safe, stable, nurturing and effective care, with particular attention to vulnerable groups and contextual safeguarding factors.
- Best outcomes — taking decisive, child‑centred action to enable all children to achieve the best possible outcomes, including educational achievement, personal development, safety, resilience and long‑term wellbeing.
At Kirkby CofE Primary School, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all our pupils. The Governing Body recognises this and their duty as set out in in Section 175 / 157 of the Education Act 2002.

Safeguarding information for Children & Families
Operation Encompass - Is a partnership between police and schools.
We are an Operation Encompass school which means that we are alerted, by the police, if they have visited a household where a children has witnessed domestic abuse. Information is shared as part of a multi-agency approach for the safety and wellbeing of children involved in or witnessing domestic abuse.
CEOP- A law enforcement agency to keep children and young peopel safe from sexual exploitation and abuse.
NSPCC - National Society for the prevention of cruelty to children - Every child is worth fighting for.
Action for children - Their vision if that every child and young person in the UK has a happy and safe childhood, and the foundations they need to thrive.
Pace2be - Supporting the health and well-being of children and young people; providing mental health support in schools.
Childline - The helpline is accessible, 24 hours a day and free from all netwroks, to children and adults with concerns about children.

Knowlsey Early Help
Knowsley Early Help is about working with children, young people & families to offer the right support early before a small need becomes a bigger one. It is an approach to supporting young children and familes reach their full potential. They support familes at the earliest point when they first have challenges, stopping problems from escalating.
