SEND Support and Information
At Kirkby Church of England Primary School, located in the heart of Kirkby, we are committed to creating a nurturing, inclusive learning environment where every child is supported to thrive.
Our SEND team includes:
Mrs Ashe – SENDCo
Mrs Lewis – EYFS SENDCo
We have high expectations for all children and aim to remove barriers to learning through high-quality, inclusive teaching. We value strong partnerships with parents and carers, and we work closely together to ensure that every child can fully participate in school life, which sits at the heart of our Christian ethos.
Children may present with a wide range of additional needs. Our SEND Policy places a strong emphasis on the early identification of these needs so that support can be put in place as soon as possible. We provide an adaptive and responsive learning environment where a variety of teaching approaches and learning styles are used to meet individual needs. We ensure that every child has access to a broad and balanced curriculum.
Our curriculum is designed to be inclusive and accessible, giving children with additional needs the opportunity to succeed and develop their full potential. Curriculum planning considers children’s barriers to learning and builds on their prior knowledge and skills.
All children receive high-quality teaching. When curriculum adaptations are required for individual pupils, these are made in consultation with the child, their parents or carers, and, where appropriate, external agencies. For children with identified SEND, we follow the Assess, Plan, Do, Review cycle. Teachers use Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to monitor progress and ensure that provision is tailored, effective, and regularly reviewed.
Our SEND provision fully complies with the SEND Code of Practice (2014).
