Class 4 Home Learning w/b 22.6.20

Hi Class 4,

This week’s home learning is Week 6 of the pack you collected from school. I have attached the Guidance and Answers. It is also available on the Class page of the website. If you have not been able to collect the pack, or are having problems finding the Guidance document, please let me know.

However, when we spoke to you last week, quite a few of you said you have really enjoyed doing the daily work we’ve been setting and, in particular, the First News newspaper and comprehension, and would like to continue with that. Many of you have also been enjoying the White Rose Maths.

So, if you have picked up the pack and want to continue with that, please do so. Or, if you want to do the White Rose Maths, it is attached, along with First News and a couple of activities.

If you click on the hyperlink, it should take you to the correct place. I'll also email the documents to you and they are available on the Class page on the website. Any problems, please let me know.

MATHS (week 9): (Look at Y3 work first if you feel like you need a bit of revision)

          Y3= angles

          Y4= money, and the four operations (+, -, x and ÷)

(Worksheets and answers attached)

Y3 White Rose Maths                          (see Y3 BBC Maths for additional useful videos)

Y4 White Rose Maths                          (see Y4 BBC Maths for additional useful videos)

(I know some of you are using Carol Vorderman’s “The Maths Factor” site and if you’d prefer to carry on with that, that's OK.)

ENGLISH

This week's edition of First News 731 is also attached. As you will know by now, it makes excellent reading material and it really is jam-packed with news. I love the 20 Things to Know and Tell. It gives you so much information about what’s going on in the World. You can find out about what Marcus Rashford has been up to this week, amongst other things. There’s also the First News Comprehension and Mystery News.

Don't forget to read daily for 20+ mins. Please keep reading ‘The Ickabog’ online and let me know what you think of the story so far. You could write a Book Review for any book you’ve read while we’ve been away from school. If you send a photo, we could create a Book Review section for our website. I’ve attached a template here.

Additional daily work ("IF" wanted): (Again, look at Y3 work first if you feel like you need some revision)

    Y4 BBC Daily English

HANDWRITING

Look at https://www.teachhandwriting.co.uk/cursive-joins-choice-3.html to see the video clips on how to form letters and joins correctly. Practise the letters you are still struggling with. Don't forget to try to keep your letters a consistent size, with short letters short and tall letters tall.

SPELLING

Click here to see the list of all statutory words children in Y3 & Y4 should know. Try to concentrate on these words please. You can also practise your spelling patterns here

FUN & GAMES

NumBots  (Use the same login details for TTRockstars. Let me know if you’ve forgotten your username or password and I’ll email them to you)

I’ve included a lot of information here. Please don’t feel that you have to do it all. Just do the work at your own pace, try to do some each day and choose the worksheets that you feel are most appropriate. You might want to do some of the work from the pack and some that I’ve included here. As always, just do your best.

Please let me know if you are running out of supplies i.e. pens, pencils, work books and we will try to get things to you ASAP. Likewise, if you have any questions, please email me at [email protected] and I'll do my best to help.

Take care, stay safe and keep in touch.
