Anne Frank Diary Entry

Last week, we received some excellent biographies on Anne Frank and her life, this week you are going to be using your knowledge of Anne Frank to get into role and write a diary entry as if you are her.

You will find a document 'Anne Frank Diary Activity' below as well as 'Diary Wiriting Powerpoint' which you should look at to help you write your diary entries.

PSHE

This week it is Child Mental Health Week, a week which we dedicate and practise activities that we can use in day-to-day life, to help us look after both our physical and mental health. Below you will find the following activites that should be nice and fun to complete this week:

- The Happy News Magazine (which includes activites)
-Mindfulness colouring 1&2
-Self-reflection Journal (to complete each day!)

Science

Last week, we started our new Science topic; Adaptations. You should have looked at the conditions in different environments and the characteristics that animals have that help them to survive.

This week (lesson 2), we are looking at how organisms have adapted to hot environments. You will learn about the conditions that are present in desert environments and look at a range of adaptations in desert plants and animals looking specifically at cacti, camels, kangaroo rats and fennec foxes.

Please click here to be directed to the lesson.

Have a look at this fun video of how a camel is adapted to life in the desert.

History

This week's work is on the role of women both before and during the war. We would like you to look at the PowerPoint that can be found attached to your class page and complete two activities.

Activity 1- We would like you to think about how women’s roles changed both prior to and post WWII.

Using the information from the PowerPoint and the sheet provided, complete the table to describe how and why the role of women differed before, during and after World War II.

Activity 2 - During the war, propaganda posters were commissioned to encourage thousands of women to volunteer for work. They played an important part in World War II to shape public opinion.

Using the information from the PowerPoint and the example sheet below design your own propaganda poster for a woman’s wartime job. Remember to clearly show what the job is and use persuasive design features to appeal to the readers.

 PE

Please tune in to the weekly Zoom PE lesson. It is important that during lockdown we all stay as active as possible as it also helps to improve our general mood.

The next session is Friday 5th February. The details for the next PE zoom meeting have been emailed out to you. It would be great to see even more of you on this one.

Alan's Back

We know how much you all love going to Street Dance so we thought we'd bring Alan to you at home.

He'll be doing a weekly lesson which can be found on the school's home page.

Keep dancing!!!!!

Music

Last week you should have been able to log on to YUMU by Charanga (our at-home music provision) and should have completed Step 2 to learn the song Make You Feel My Love by Adele. Log on this week using the same details and have a go at the activities on Step 3. This week you'll be listening to So Amazing by Luther Vandross and comparing it to; Make You Feel My Love. Think about how the songs are different and how they are similar.

We hope that you're all staying safe and well at home. It's great to see so many of you on our class Zooms, keep sending us pictures of your completed work and also keep us up to date of any achievements you're particularly proud of. Enjoy Drawing with Rob and this week's midfulness activities.

Don't forget CBBC are showing a variety of educational programmes Monday to Friday. Please have a look at the timetable attached below. I have put a ring around all of the programmes this week that I would recommend.

smiley We look forward to seeing you all soon smiley
