Home Learning w/b 15.3.21

Hi to our home learners!

We hope you're staying safe and well at home. Here's the work for this week, please get in touch if you would like more... wink

Maths this week is all about decimal numbers. Make sure you pay attention to the numbers you're using and consider whether your answer is a sensible one in relation to the numbers in the calculation. If it's not, take another look at where you've added the decimal point. When you watch the video, make sure you pause it when they tell you to and try the calculation, reasoning or problem. Yes it slows your work down but it's the best way to learn by having a go. On Friday we'd like you to have a go at a Year 6 Arithmetic SATs paper! No, we haven't lost the plot, we'd just like you to access the myminimaths website and have a go at as many of the questions as you can - scroll down as there are 40 questions in all! If you explore the rest of the website you'll find videos which tell you how to do each of the questions. Over the next few weeks we'll take a look at these too. Remember to keep up with your Times Table Rockstars too, we'll be setting a new challenge soon!

In English we are going to focus on working on improving your writing by 'uplevelling sentences'. This just means taking a basic sentence and improving it by adding extra parts and exchanging words for better ones. Read through the PowerPoint we've added as a PDF in parts during the week as it's 29 pages long and have a go at improving your sentences. There are 3 worksheets for this week - an easy (*), medium (**) and more difficult (***) one. Why not try all 3? Be as creative as you can. Your work will thank you for it!

RE this week is a really fun ICT-related activity, creating a Word Cloud like this one:

For Music simply log in to your YUMU account to find this week's lesson using Carole King's You've Got A Friend.

Please do get in touch if you need anything. Take care and we hope to see you soon,

Mr Tennant, Mrs O'Hare and Miss Scott
