Home Learning Packs

Well being packs have been prepared for the children to complete during the summer holidays. They are now available to collect from the school conservatory (staff car park).

Maths - Telling the time

O'clock

First we are going to recap how to tell O'clock times by using the hour and minute hands on a clock. Go to https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/znhp7yc and watch the first slideshow. This will teach you the different o'clock times on an analogue clock. Pay attention to the hour hand and the minute hand because these will help you tell the time.

Then in the second slideshow you will need to use your knowledge about the hour and minute hands to select which clock tells the correct time.

Now can you write the time shown on each clock face? Download the worksheet attached below.

Half Past

When the minute hand of a clock has moved from 12 and travelled halfway round the clock to point at 6, this is half past the hour.

The hour hand also moves and is halfway from one number to the next one.

On this clock, the minute hand points to 6 so it is half past.

The hour hand points halfway past 8 so it is half past 8.

Watch this clip all about things you can do in half an hour.

Now keep looking at a clock throughout the day and practise telling the time. Look for things you do when it is half past an hour. You could keep a diary of your day.

Remember, the minute hand points at 6 and the hour hand is halfway between two numbers when it is half past.

English/Topic

This week as we reach the final week of this school year, I want you to think about all of the wonderful memories we have made together in Class 1. Have you watched our class video? Make sure you have a look. It’s hard to remember some of the great things that we did at the beginning of the year. Hopefully the video will remind you.

First, have a look at ‘My School Year Memory Page’. I would like you to draw a picture in each box to fill the page with pictures of your amazing memories from Class 1. Think about your favourite school trip, the best book that you read and your funniest memory.

Next, I would like you to choose your favourite memory or something you loved most about this year and write about it. Remember to write in full sentences. Don’t forget capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.

Once, you have finished I would like you to email these two pieces of work over to us at [email protected] or [email protected]. I am going to share all of favourite memories on our class page for all of our friends to see.
