Monday

 

Phonics – Write the sound sh on a piece of paper.  Think of 4 words that have the ‘sh’ sound.  For example, ship. Draw one of those things and label it.

 

Power of Reading (Literacy) – Watch clip from frozen planet. (click or copy and paste into google) Discuss what you have watched. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00mryqq

 

Maths – I can count 10 moveable objects. Find 10 small objects and 2 plates.  Grab some of the objects and put on one plate. Put the remaining objects on the other plate. What number bond did you find? How many in each plate?  How many altogether?  How many different ways can the objects be grouped on the plates?

Maths – Collect 10 socks.  How many different ways can you group the socks that you have collected? For example, 6 with green on and 4 without, 3 big socks and 7 small, 5 with bows on and 5 without.  If we put 5 socks in the washing basket, how many would you have left?  If you put 9 in the washing basket, how many would you have left?

Story time- Powerpoint ‘Lost Penguin’ from last week.  Re-read the story to your child.  Work on the book can be done on Thursday.

 

Wednesday

 

Phonics – Write the sound th on a piece of paper. Think of 4 words that have the ‘th’ sound.  For example, teeth. Draw one of those things and label it.

 

Power of Reading (Literacy) –We’re going to look at ice. What do you already know about ice?  What do you want to know? Encourage the children to formulate questions, for example What makes ice? What makes it melt? Make ice using an ice tray or ice bag and keep for tomorrow.

 

Maths – I can count objects that can’t be moved.  Using the sheet ‘I Spy’ attached, can you count the objects?  What is the best way to ensure you don’t count the same object twice?

Thursday

 

Phonics – Write the sound ng on a piece of paper. Think of 4 words that have the ‘ng’ sound.  For example, ring. Draw one of those things and label it.

 

Power of Reading (Literacy) – Using ice from freezer, place a bowl of ice near a radiator, a bowl of ice outside, a bowl of ice with added salt in and a bowl of ice with added sugar in.  Predict or guess which ice with melt the quickest.  Watch for the results.  Which bowl of ice melted the quickest? 

Maths – Look at the ‘Tens frame coloured templates’.  Draw each ten frame shown as a part whole model? For example,

Story time- Powerpoint ‘Lost Penguin’ Can you think of any other words to describe how the penguin is feeling.

Power of Reading (Literacy) – Make some more ice and if possible add some food colouring to the water first.  Can you paint a picture using the coloured ice?

 

Maths Look at the ‘Tens frame coloured templates’ from yesterday.  What does each ten frame show as a sentence? For example, 

9+1=10, 10+0=10
