Monday

 

Phonics – Can you write your name?  Do you know the letter names and letter sounds of your name? Can you remember the actions to the sounds?

Maths – I can count 5 moveable objects. Find 5 small objects and 2 plates.  Grab some of the objects and put on one plate. Put the remaining objects on the other plate. What number bond did you find? How many in each plate?  How many altogether?  How many different ways can the objects be grouped on the plates?

Tuesday

 

Phonics – Listen carefully to this list of words; tree, bee, pin, three. Can you find the one that doesn’t rhyme with the others? Remember to listen carefully to the sound at the end of the word.

Maths – Collect 5 socks.  How many different ways can you group the socks that you have collected? For example, 4 with green on and 1 without, 3 big socks and 2 small, 5 with bows on and 0 without.  If we put 3 socks in the washing basket, how many would you have left?  If you put 1 in the washing basket, how many would you have left?

Story time- Powerpoint ‘Lost Penguin’ from last week.  Re-read the story to your child.  Work on the book can be done on Thursday.

 

Wednesday

 

Phonics – What rhymes or poems do you say at home? Find your favourite poem to read.

 

Power of Reading (Literacy) –Were going to look at ice. What do you already know about ice?  What do you want to know? Encourage the children to formulate questions, for example What makes ice? What makes it melt? Make ice using an ice tray or ice bag and keep for tomorrow.

 

Maths – I can count objects that can’t be moved.  Using the sheet ‘I Spy’ attached, can you count the objects?  What is the best way to ensure you don’t count the same object twice?

Thursday

 

Phonics – Play a matching game with the cards attached or draw your own for the children to match.

 

Power of Reading (Literacy) – Using ice from freezer, place a bowl of ice near a radiator, a bowl of ice outside, a bowl of ice with added salt in and a bowl of ice with added sugar in.  Predict or guess which ice with melt the quickest.  Watch for the results. Which bowl of ice melted the quickest? 

 

Maths – Can you find the number 5 in your house?  For example, on  a clock, or phone.  How many times did you find number 5?  Can you write the number 5?  Can you make the number 5 using objects i.e. sticks or pencils?

Story time- Powerpoint ‘Lost Penguin’ Can you think of any other words to describe how the penguin is feeling.

Friday

 

Phonics – Repeat last weeks rhyme.  Can you remember the rhyme ‘Pat-a-cake, Pat-a-cake, Baker’s man’?  Can you remember how to clap your hands together to the beat?

Power of Reading (Literacy) – Make some more ice and if possible add some food colouring to the water first.  Can you paint a picture using the coloured ice?

 

Maths - Sing along and act out ‘There was 5 in the bed and the little one said..’  What is 1 less than 5?  1 less than 4?
