Alphabetical Order
Follow this bitesize link:-
https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zxfyjty/articles/zcyfsg8
When you were younger, you were taught to sing the alphabet.
Can you say the alphabet? Practise until you can and be careful around ‘l m n o p’
- Write down the alphabet in lower case letters and in capital letters.
E.g.
a b c d e …
A B C D E …
Alphabetical order is when you write a list of words by looking at the first letters and putting them in the order of the alphabet. E.g. blue, green, pink, yellow
- Have a go at these:
five three six nine ten
zebra cow goat dog monkey
banana pear apple orange grape
king queen jack ace cards
leaf root stem flower petal
Maybe you can think of some of your own.
History
Do you remember that earlier on in the year we were learning all about Florence Nightingale? Do you know what she is well known for? The NHS have recently set up some temporary hospitals in the UK called the ‘NHS Nightingale Hospitals’.
On Tuesday 12th May it will be the 200th Anniversary of her birth. Please find attached a Power Point presentation all about her life. It is set out in a Timeline which shows the order in which events happened all those years ago.
- Write down 3 or 4 factual sentences about Florence Nightingale. Either from what already know or from information you have found out. Remember to include a capital letter at the start and a full stop at the end of the sentence.
- Colour in the attached sheet if you are able to print it off.
She was often called ‘The Lady with the Lamp’.
- Find out why she was given this name?
- Have a go at making your own paper lantern. Follow this link with some instructions.
