English & Topic

Did you find out any information about our Queen?

Her name is Queen Elizabeth II and she was born on 21st April 1926 which means she is 94 years old. She is the oldest King or Queen that we have ever had.

Please find attached a Power Point presentation all about Queen Elizabeth II.

  • The sentences below have got some mistakes in them. Your task this week is to find the mistakes and write them out correctly. Remember, a capital letter to start, a capital letter for proper nouns (names and places), a full stop at the end and finger spaces between words.

  1. queen elizabeth was born in London
  2. she is 94 years old
  3. she did not go to school, she was taught at home
  4. queen elizabeth got married when she was 21 years old
  5. she has four children, charles, anne, andrew and edward
  6. she lives in london in Buckingham Palace
  7. corgis are her favourite dog

  • Think about the question words that you looked at last week (Who, What, Why, When, Where).

Please write down 2 or 3 questions that you would like to ask the Queen if you were ever able to meet her.  Example:- What is your favourite colour?

VE Day

Friday 8th May is a bank holiday. This means that if we were in school at the moment then you would be having an extra day off and a nice long weekend at home.

This is because it is the 75th Anniversary of VE Day. Do you know anything about VE Day? Maybe you could ask some older people in your family if they can tell you what they know about it.

You could choose to do one of these activities:-

  • I know lots of people have been putting up ‘Thank you NHS’ posters in their windows at home. Can you make a ‘Thank You Soldiers’ poster to show that we are grateful for all of the sacrifices that they have made and are still making.
  • Make your own Union Jack bunting to hang up. You could copy out the attached template or design your own using the colours red, white and blue. Do you remember when we coloured in the Union Jack flag when we were learning all about the United Kingdom?
  • All about the number 75! Paint it, draw it, colour it in, count out 75 objects, do something for 75 seconds, find page number 75 in a book. What else could you do with the number 75?

Art

Please watch the attached Vlog to find out what your task is this week.

Remember draw what you can see! If you are not able to find any flowers then you could always have a look on the computer or you could use some of these photographs from my garden to help you.

Please send any photographs of your work to me [email protected]

Have fun.
