Remote Learning W/B 5.1.21

Please use this page to find links to online maths lessons and daily English and Maths tasks. Whilst your child is at home, they should aim to access online learning as often as possible and complete tasks in order to prevent falling behind with their learning. The activities are designed to cover the aspects of learning that your child would have accessed in school. It is important that the children keep up to date with learning so that when we are able to return to school, children are able to continue with their learning.

You do not need to print any worksheets off. Children can complete activities and write the answers in their workbook which was sent home in their ‘Home Learning Pack’ at the beginning of the year.

In addition, I recommend playing NumBots as often as you can. This will support your child with their addition and subtraction skills. Please try to download the FREE app from the Apple or Google Play Store to make playing it even easier.

Children have been given individual login details but please email

[email protected] or [email protected] if you have any problems.

English - Christmas Holiday Memories

Think about how you spent your time off during the Christmas holidays. We know it may have been a little different this year, not many places were open and you won’t have seen many people. Maybe you spent a lot of time at home, playing with your brothers and sisters or new toys. Maybe you enjoyed a film night with your family

We would like you to tell us all about your Christmas holidays. You can use the sheet attached ‘Tuesday Christmas Memories’ for ideas. Draw pictures showing what you have been up to, please label your pictures. If you would like to, you could even write a couple of simple sentences.

Don't forget to use capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. Remember you do not have to print off the worksheet if you aren’t able to, you can complete this in your home learning book that was sent home at the beginning of the school year.

English – New Year Resolutions

We are at the start of a brand new year.

Do you know what year we are in now? We made calendars in class to be used throughout this New Year.

Lots of people like see the New Year as a fresh start. Many people like to make a New Year's resolution which is a goal that you set yourself to work on throughout the year. Your task today is to:

  • Read through the attached New Year Resolution powerpoint (ask an adult to help you).
  • Think of your own goals, hopes and dreams for the year. Maybe you would like to get better at something, school work or a sport? Maybe you would like to try something new? Or maybe you would just like to try and keep your bedroom tidy.
  • Complete the attached ‘2021 Hopes and Dreams’ sheet', draw and colour two pictures and write a few words next to them describing your goal, hope or dream. If you can’t print it off then please don’t worry, have a go at drawing something similar in your workbook.

Science - Materials

This half term we are learning about ‘Everyday Materials’.

A material is what something is made from.

How many different materials can you think of?

Can you recognise these materials?

glass    plastic     metal     wood     rock     water

Please click here and watch a ‘Come Outside’ link looking at the material wood.

FRIDAY

Maths – Recap Activity Week

Please click here and watch the final White Rose Maths teaching video for this week.

Day 5 - Special Delivery

Please follow the video, pause where you need to and complete the tasks mentioned.

  • Write the numbers 1-20 on pieces of paper. Select 3 of them and place them in the correct order – greatest to smallest.
  • If you have a dice, please play the final post game with someone in your house. Use the tens frame template sent home in your home learning pack or print off the one that is attached at the bottom of this page. You could colour in the counters or maybe use some small objects at home, such as dry pieces of pasta, to place on top.

English - Phonics

Open the attached ‘Phase 3 Sounds’ Powerpoint (bottom of the page) to recap all of the Phase 3 sounds that we have been learning this year. The children are familar with the sounds and the images, they will also know rhymes to go with some of the sounds.

Open the Phase 3 – I Spy document. Use the recording sheet to write down the name of any objects that you can find that have got a phase 3 sound in them.

Example: There is a picture of a fork, that word has the ‘or’ sound in it, write the word fork next to ‘or’ on the recording sheet. If you can’t print off the sheets then look at the pictures on your screen and write down the words in your workbook.

You do not have to do this all in one go, there are lots of pictures and words to write so you may prefer to it over a few days!
