English

https://www.literacyshed.com/wingit.html

Watch the short video ‘Wingit' which showcases Sherman and his plans for designing a flying machine.

All seems pretty straightforward until we see some strange creatures spying on Sherman.

As the story moves on it seems that Aliens were responsible for all major inventions throughout history.

Taking inspiration from Sherman, your task is to invent your own flying machine. We would like you to draw and label a diagram of your flying machine before writing a short set of instructions for how your flying machine works.

Be creative and think outside of the box!

Use the 'Instructions Writing Information' document attached to help you.

Grammar - Four different sentences types (statement, command, exclamtion and question)

This week, we would like you to watch the short grammar lesson on Oak National Academy.

In the lesson, you will revise the differences between clauses and phrases. You will then introduce the four types of simple sentence: statement, command, question and exclamation. Finally, you will have an opportunity to apply this learning.

Click here to start the lesson.

Science

Last week, you completed Lesson 4 of our Science topic; Adaptations.

You looked at why some animals are nocturnal and looked at how some of the adaptations that allow nocturnal animals to be so successful at night.

In this lesson, you will be learning about the different adaptations that marine animals have that allow them to survive in underwater environments. You will be looking at how the different animals are able to breathe, move and camouflage.

Please click here to be directed to the lesson.

History

This week we are going to be learning about D-Day by reading the powerpoint attached below or completing your own research in order to complete the two activities:

Activity 1: To create a plan as if you were about to carry out a military attack. You are to mark onto the map of the D-Day beaches your plan for the landings, thinking about how you would support the troops and taking into consideration the weather and conditions for the invasion. You will find sheet ' D-Day Plan Activity' to guide you with this activity below.

Activity 2: To design your own D-Day medal using the medal design template to help you. Remember to include;
- The date of D-Day
- The colours of the Allies
- A symbol to signify the war and the soliders' sacrifice and victory
- A reference to who took part
- Annotations to explain your design
Please download the 'D-Day Medal Design' and 'D-Day Medal Template' to complete this activity.

RE

Names for Jesus - There is a significant list of the names people give Jesus in answer to the question of who he was.  Watch this video to find out some of them: https://youtu.be/5wVvAt7ToV8

Read the linked worksheet below and think about the answers to the questions. Then complete the word search to find as many alternative names for Jesus as you can.

Music

Log into your Charanga/YUMU account and work your way through the menu down the right hand side of the lesson. This week you will be listening to another song written by Carole King - The Loco-Motion! This half term we'd really like you to learn how to sing and sign together to perform a song, so make sure you watch the video of the signed version of the song. In school we often add actions to our songs in assembly or for performances and it helps us to remember the words, so let's learn the signed version alongside the vocals for this one.

PE

Please tune in to the weekly Zoom PE lesson. It is important that during lockdown we all stay as active as possible as it also helps to improve our general mood.

The next session is Friday 26th February. The details for the next PE zoom meeting have been emailed out to you. It would be great to see even more of you on this one.

Art

Have a go at drawing an octopus following Rob Biddulph's instructions. You can follow his instructions by watching the video on the link below:

It would be great to see some of your masterpieces!

We look forward to seeing you all soon smiley
