Hi Class 9,
I hope you are all well. Below are your tasks for this week.
Please remember, do not feel obliged to complete all work set. You have lots to work with and I know being the dedicated children that you are, you are doing your best. These are just additional pieces of work that can be completed at your own leisure. Any questions or problems please do not hesitate to contact me.
Maths Task
This week’s focus is ordering fractions.
In order to do this, we sometimes may find it easier to convert our fractions so that they have the same denominator (bottom number) as it then becomes easier when ordering them or finding out which fraction is the smallest or largest.
I have attached a PowerPoint that you may wish to look at if you feel like this would help you. I have also included a useful video link.
English Task
Choose your favourite picture and use it to create a descriptive piece of writing, using skills that you have learnt this year.
Use your imagination to write a short story of what you think could happen in the picture.
Remember to use adjectives, adverbs and even include some Alan Peat sentences if you can.
The more vocabulary you use, the more your teacher will smile 
Topic Task
On Saturday, The United States opened a new era of human space travel as a private company for the first time launched astronauts into orbit, nearly a decade after the government retired the storied space shuttle program in the aftermath of a national tragedy.
This week, I would like you to research the historic event that happened on Saturday. I have attached a video and news report if you would like to use these to get you started but feel free to research yourself.
I would like you to create a fact-file that tells me all about this event. If you are feeling even more creative you could even design your own rocket and tell me how and why you would design it this way.
