Reading comprehension – The Eye of the Cyclops

Read the short extract from a famous Greek myth and answer the questions provided. Remember to write in full sentences and think about how much information to write e.g. a few lines means a few sentences and one line means a short answer.

Grammar activity - Modal Verbs

Refresh your memory of using modal verbs to indicate the degree of possibility of something happening, by reading the information guide (Modal Verb Information) attached below.

Once you have done that have a go at the desert island activity that involves you using modal verbs to describe what you could use various items for.

E.g. Coloured pencils

You could use them for colouring in pictures you have drawn.

You may use them to help you start a fire.

Use the guidance sheet to help you.

RE

This week we're asking you to watch this video about the Last Supper and read the passage from the Bible written by one of Jesus' disciples who was actually there! See the Word document in the files below with the links to and more information about both.

Music

Last week you should have received an email with your log-in details for Knowsley's online music website called Charanga. It's what Mrs O'Hare has been using in school to teach you all about Pharrell Williams' song Happy. This half term you will be able to access it yourself at home via YUMU (the at-home version) and we will be learning the song Make You Feel My Love by Adele. If you click the music information link at the bottom of the page it will tell you more about this week's activities.

PE

It was great to see so many of you on the previous PE session zoom. It is important that during lockdown we all stay as active as possible as it also helps to improve our general mood.

The next session is Friday 22nd January. The details for the next PE zoom meeting have been emailed out to you. It would be great to see even more of you on this one.

History

We have recently started our new History topic which is all about World War II. Last week, you looked at evacuation and how it impacted so many people during the War, mostly children!

This week, to further enhance your learning we would like you to watch the famous film 'Goodnight Mr Tom.' It tells the story of a young World War II evacuee who his housed by a disgruntled old man, however they soon develop a close bond. It is brilliant and I am sure you will enjoy it.

Watch it on youtube here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7j8awfdvxaw
